I pre-ordered the new nav system for the plane. The Garmin 496 is a top of the line, state of the art GPS with Terrain avoidance ( a good thing ) live radar, TECAS ( aircraft avoidance ) real time weather at every airport enroute, XM radio and a data link to ground stations. It'll take me months to figure how to turn it on. Actually they have schools. Wanna make a donation?
Ponderous Notions

What was the best thing before sliced bread?

If it's tourist season, why can't we shoot them?

Do blind Eskimos have seeing-eye sled dogs?

If you shoot a mime, should you use a silencer?

Why do they sterilize needles for lethal injections?

Why is there an expiration date on sour cream?

What do they use to ship styrofoam?

This is amazing "Spamalator" . It is an self-contained device that detects, then prints, and finally shreds spam email automatically as it arrives. Even while I am gone to Micky D's for some nappy fries.

Notice the emergency power back-up

Cool huh?

Dan, Danny and I went to see "Spiderman 3" tonight. I'm sure everyone in the civilized world and those in California too will have seen the movie. And by now will have read 164 reviews. I'll not do one here other than to say I enjoyed it and thought it was good. There were a lot of moral choices to be made. Will the rage inside win?
Will Peter do the right thing or will he turn to the dark side? Will he lose M.J. ?

Two lessons I heard were:
  1. Stand by your friends and never forget those who are important to you.
  2. There are choices in life, always choose what is the right thing to do.
DirtBoy aka Sandman and Venom were cool. The effects were good. At $258 million they should have been amazing. However I thought the liquid guy in "T2" was just as good. ( I'll be Baaak ) The pre-credits ( titles ) were best as far as effects I thought. Casting Topher Grace was genius.

I read the movie grossed $382 million just in the opening weekend. Now that is amazing.

Oh AmStar has a life sized 3-D Silver Surfer in the lobby. Please someone send me a picture up close of that.

Did they really find King Herod's tomb? Israeli archaeologist today claim to have located the possible location of the burial place on a flattened hilltop in the Desert south of Jerusalem.
On the site they have been exploring since the 1970s, where the monarch had built a palace.
They found a sarcophagus, which we all remember from "Night at the Museum" , although there were no bones in the container it's location and ornate appearance indicated it is indeed Herod's. Further research is needed on the ruins and it's inscription for full verification.

Hordes (Hebrew: הוֹרְדוֹס, hoɾðos; Greek: ἡρῴdης, hērōdēs; trad. English: Herod), also known as Herod I or Herod the Great, was a Roman client king of Judaea (ca. 74 BC – ca. 4 BC )
better known as King Herod the biblical monarch became the ruler of the Holy Land under the Romans around 40 B.C. The wall he built around the Old City of Jerusalem during the time of the Jewish Second Temple is the one that can be seen today. Herod was the king at the time of the birth of Christ and is the one who asked the Three Magi to return with new of that event, but it was his son Herod Antipas ( also called Herod)who played a role in the story of John the Baptist.

Tonight at 7:25 p.m. it will have been seventy years since the crash of the Hindenburg. At 804-foot-long, more than three times longer than a Boeing 747 the huge airship was at the time cutting-edge technology.

The last flight was already running late and because of the political moods of the day tensions were high. Just half full, with only 36 passengers and 61 crew members the hydrogen-filled Hindenburg some how ignited while easing toward its mooring mast at Lakehurst, NJ base. It instantly burst into flames and was totally engulfed crashing down from about 100 feet or so, directly on to the ground crew. The blaze killed 35 people on board but some how only one person in the ground crew; 62 passengers and crew members survived.
There are numerous of photos and even a video of the crash where a radio station reporter in shock uttered the now famous phrase "Oh, the humanity and all the passengers!"
In Part the crash led to the end of the Zeppelin in commercial aviation, other than the safer helium filled blimps we all know. Like the Goodyear or the Ginn Blimp that visited here

Ok I'll admit it. I guess I am a softy. Some movies get to me.

We had mom and dad over tonight for supper. Because it is the second most important holiday in Mexican culture, "Cinco de Mayo", I made Chinese food.

Mom and dad came early and while dad and I caught-up on things Kristie and mom went to check out some shopping. After they got back I fired up every pan we own plus the wok, and made some dinner. When I cook I create mostly at the spur of the moment. This time I had a new idea I wanted to try, and I must brag, it turned out pretty good.

After the Key Lime pie ( mom's favorite ) we get comfortable to watch "Elizabethtown". One of my all time picks. A romantic comedy about finding yourself, living life and discovering what is really important, and finding the right girl too.

"Elizabethtown" stars Orlando Bloom as a young man who is a total failure at life. He lost his company a billion dollars, gets fired and dumped by his girlfriend all in one day. Just as he is about to end it all he get a call that his father had died while visiting Kentucky. Kirsten Dunst plays a Flight Attendant who has a overwhelmingly optimistic attitude, and makes it her mission to take care of him after meeting him on his journey to be with the father. Along the way she teaches him about life as they fall in love.

I love this movie as my 3 disc special edition proves. Oh and it has the best soundtrack in a flick in years.

The evening ended too soon.
