The Governor proclaims South Carolina Aviation Week
Aviation is vital to the economic stability of the Palmetto
State and the quality of life of its people. To recognize that,
Gov. Mark Sanford issued a proclamation declaring Oct. 7
through 12 South Carolina Aviation Week.
AOPA Southeast Regional Representative Bob Minter worked with
the South Carolina Aviation Association (SCAA) to provide
educational materials to send to each of the 62 public-use
airports to help promote general aviation throughout the state.
This includes AOPA's latest DVD Local Airports: Access to
America, used nationwide by AOPA Airport Support Network
volunteers to build public appreciation for local airports.
Distributing this type of information about GA is important as
Congress debates FAA funding.
South Carolina has six commercial service airports, 54 GA
airports, and four military airfields that are essential to the
Palmetto State's diversified business base, growing population,
and extensive tourism industry.
