I drove to my parents house the other day for a visit and to help build a rail for their deck steps. It was hot tiring work. Afterwards I had this urge to play under the water hose. I am sure it would have been great. But I resisted and drove home. When I got home as I got ready for a shower I realized I did not remember crossing the bridge at the state line. That’s scary. It is a big bridge some quarter mile long and about 85 feet high. And I do not even remember seeing it. If it had been down, would I have noticed? Wonder what else I missed. I hope I didn’t hit anything.

Then I jumped into the shower to clean-up . The cool water felt great. I had been in there maybe six or seven minutes and I was about to get out. But I could not remember if I had shampooed my hair. I mean it was wet, but did I use soap?

Ok I wonder…did I get too hot or is that a senior moment type thing. More Brain Lock ? I think I need a nap

Now here is a job I could do.

Flybe airlines of England signed a deal with the city of Norwich to carry 15,000 passengers into the city within a year. If they did they would earn a cash bonus from the city of 280 thousand pounds ($ 550,000)

Last week one week from the anniversary date they were falling short. So they hired temps and paid them to ride the plane. It cost the airline about 6,000 pounds. But they exceeded the minimum number so they got the bonus. Lets see spend around $ 15,000 to earn over a half million. Good business move.

Paying someone to ride a jet for a day. Yeah that is a job I could handle.
Kristie and I vacationed in Norwich and the surrounding area a couple years ago. It is a beautiful place.
Sign me up for next year.

Did you see us? We were sitting right in the middle of the front row. Jeopardy doesn't show the audience very often, but we did make it on camera just before the second commercial break.

Alex Trebek the host is a warm friendly man, who genuinely seems to enjoy talking with the audience. During each break and between shows ( they film several each day ) he came over and chatted and answered questions. Yeah he does seem as smart as he looks while hosting. And I've seldom met anyone as quick witted. Since Kristie and I were seated front and center we were able to talk face to face. He told us about the life of a game show host and his world. He even shared photos of his teenage children (Matthew and Emily) and had several of his dog Sonya. We stumbled onto a subject near to his heart. Thoroughbred race horses. He once owned a ranch and raised thoroughbred horses. During the late eighties I owned a share in a racing horse we found a common interest.

We also had a chance to meet and chat with last nights repeat winner. And his family. They were very nice people and explained a lot of the in and outs of being and winning on a game show.

If you missed us, you have one more chance. Tonight's show. Same time same channel. Look for us front row in the middle, grinning like we were on TV or something.

When Kristie and I visited California this spring we were able to attend the taping of several television shows.

Tonight and tomorrow night if you are really bored look for us on Jeopardy. 7:30 pm on the U.S. east coast.

"I'll take useless trivia for $600, Alex. "

Happy Birthday to the most amazing and stunningly beautiful lady in the entire universe.

I love you with all my heart.

We just returned from the funeral home over in Georgia where we were visiting the family of one of Kristie's best friends Teresa. "Risser's" father passed away last night and visitation was tonight. There was a large crowd. Baron was well loved, around the community. We stood in line just to speak to the family for over an hour and fifteen minutes.

While we were there I was thinking how Baron ( the deceased ) had been right there at same place just two nights ago, visiting along with the rest of us on Monday. Now it's Wednesday night and we are visiting him.

I know it sounds cliché but we are never promised tomorrow. I have always believed that, but tonight's events really brought that to the forefront of my thoughts.

As the sayings go, the only things certain in life, are death and taxes. Tomorrow may never come.

What have you been putting off? Who do you need to make amends with? Have you told your husband, wife and kids how much you love them. Maybe spending more time together would be a good idea. Why don't you call your mom or dad and just simply thank them for everything they mean to you? There are thousands of things like that we need to remember.

We all know people who are hurting. Take a moment and remember them in your prayers tonight, then do something special for them tomorrow. I am sure we all know people who are lost. It might be a friend, a co-worker or maybe someone you just met. Tell them about Jesus. Show them Gods love through your life. Invite them to church and offer to pick them up. It'll only take a moment. It could last forever.

A few weeks ago I was lamenting the fact that Kristie and I had three visits to a funeral home with a short period of time.

I hope that pattern is not repeating itself, but we are about to head out to Georgia to visit the funeral home, for the second time in three days. On Monday it was the sister of one of Kristie’s friends from childhood.

Tonight it is one of her close friends father. We are praying for the family in this time of grief. Hopefully this funeral will be the last one for a while.

I got tagged

Six Quirky Things About Me

Phika tagged me

Here are the rules:
1) Link to the person who tagged me.
2) Mention the rules.
3) Tell six quirky yet boring, unspectacular details about myself.
4) Tag 6 other blogger's by linking to them.
5) Go to each person’s blog and leave a comment that lets them know they’ve been tagged.
And for some reason there aren't 6 rules.

Six Quirky Things about Me

WOW this is tough. Not because of a problem finding 6 things, but because of finding 6 zillion things. Which ones to post? Sorry I was so slow.

OK here goes;

  • I pretty much never watch television. Unless it is a DVD or VHS playing our TV is never on. We don't have a dish or cable; we don't even have an outside antenna hooked up. I do however have huge stereo that I play for hours daily and a massive music collection...pick a style.

  • Unlike most people I HATE the first night on fresh sheets. I like that broken-in feel on the second night best.

  • We don't have kids so I gladly fulfill that role. I have a big box full of Burger King and Mickey D's toys. When we go shopping the second department I hit is toys. Right after the electronics video and music areas.

  • I am a collector of collections. That may be classified as a sickness however not a quirk. I need to hold a yard sale for "my junk room"

  • I am a pilot. Yet I have a (morbid) fascination with aircraft accidents. I believe you can learn from the mistakes and failings of others. I love reading the details of an incident and learning about the chain of events that caused it. My library of reports numbers over 2 thousand so far. (another collection).

  • I sometimes have an odd sense of humor. The other day, I became hysterical with laughter after hearing a woman answering her cell phone. I am not sure why.

Ok I am tagging

and you if you are reading this.

I just got back from my scheduled six month cleaning and check-up with the dentist. Things looked fine. But I didn’t get a sucker. I guess they don’t do that anymore. Pity!

So as a reward to myself I stopped at the GREAT every thing cost a dollar place and bought a box of the new Strawberry flavored Whoppers. It’s been a long time since I had some, but I fondly remember those chocolate covered malted balls, the original Whoppers. I loved ‘em.

Remember they came in a box that looked like a short milk carton.

The new Strawberry Whoppers remind me of an old fashion McDonald’s milk shake.

They were pretty good. But I made a slight mistake. After I picked them up from the store I stopped at the car shop to check on Kristie’s Fiero. Because it is becoming a vintage car we are finding some parts are getting hard to find. This time however we finally located what we need and it is now headed this way.

As Lon the mechanic and I were talking about the new Challengers from Dodge, time was passing. Trouble is the candy box was sitting on the seat and it was already 88 outside.

Climbing back in the car I thought, "Yikes, Malt ball soup".

When I got home I stuck them in the fridge for a few minutes. I came after changing clothes and putting things away, reached in and opened the box and found I now had a large solid 4 oz mass of pink delight.

Maybe it would be best to just gnaw off a chunk. Yum. They are pretty good.
