Obama: We Are No Longer A Christian Nation

This is a sad and pathetic statement on his part.

The majority of Americans are Christian About 82% of Americans are self-identified Christians. We are an overwhelmingly Christian nation in terms of our people’s religion, but we are a secular government. Our laws and culture are based on Judeo-Christian values. At least until Obama gets into the White House. Under his plan our country will change in ways that have unintended consequences. He is at best, naïve.

Obama needs to remember the verdict of the Supreme Court of the United States in Holy Trinity v. U.S. Feb 29. 1892

George Washington was a devout Christian. He held strong a strong faith. He and the other early founders of this country understood that a government founded on Biblical principles would be strong and just and truly free. We truly need this type of great statesmen now.

Village re-elects dead mayor

BUCHAREST (Reuters) - The residents of a Romanian village knowingly voted in a dead man as their mayor in Sunday's municipal election, preferring him to his living opponent.

This headline jumped out at me a few days ago. Did you watch the debates? Who will you vote for? Are you, like me voting not so much FOR someone as voting AGAINST someone else?

I am thinking what we really need is a leader who is with vision. Some who has moral values and practical sense. We need some who is realistic and shoots from the hip. A leader who pulls no punches and does what is right, not what is popular or pleases a fringe group.

But who?

A couple nights ago PBS broadcast a two and a half hour program profiling the very man we need in Washington.

Ronald Reagan.

But he's gone you say! Well if a village can elect a deceased mayor then why can't we do the same for the most powerful office in our nation?

Even in his condition he'd surely do a better job than most of our current crop of choices. We need a man who will ask himself daily..."What would Reagan do?"

The photo of Sherlock Holmes in my previous post is actually the incredible Jeremy Brett who stared as the famous detective in the BBC Granada series back in the 90's. For most people he IS the definitive Sherlock Holmes. They made forty-one episodes and all are amazing. I bought the entire series on DVD and watch them over and over. Since they tend to stick very close to the original story lines I sometimes keep my Conan Doyle volumes open and follow along. And I never watch one with out my Encyclopedia of Sherlockiana handy.

Hi Taco Girl you rock

My beautiful bride is away this weekend on a visit with her brother's family at the far end of North Carolina. So I am home alone. But don't fear I have the ever growing "honey do list" to keep me company. But the truth is I will likely ignore it for the most part. I mean I am home alone and the stereo is blasting , movies are playing ... you know?

After some tree clean-up. ( yeah I finished ) I headed off to NewSpring for our Annual Baptism Tailgate. It's amazing to see hundreds publicly acknowledge Jesus reigns in their lives. Thanks to my buds for keeping me company with such great eats.

On the way back home I stopped off downtown at the Annual Greek Fest.
Singing dancing, arts, crafts and foods. But it was not the same without Kris.



Last night I fixed me a massively large frosty glass of my Sweetie's famous Southern Sweet Ice Tea. Then I settled in for several hours with the worlds Greatest detective .




Sherlock Holmes

Dad Update: We had wonderful news back at MCG hospital Wednesday. We all traveled the 2 1/2 hours to be with dad as he once visited the neurosurgery clinic for a follow-up visit with the doctors. His fresh C.T. scans confirm the swelling and bleeding on his brain has stopped and is reducing. They also show that the additional concerns we were watching have disappeared and are no longer a factor.

What this means is that as soon as he is a little stronger dad can safely enter much more aggressive rehab and that translates into heading home once again. The doctors still refuse to put a time line on this but we all know he is much closer than before.

Prayers are being answered.

and finally

A hiker has found the wreckage of Steve Fossett’s plane. He’s been missing for more than a year after he took off on a routine flight on Sept. 3, 2007. The sheriff’s office has confirmed the plane was Fossett’s. It appears he flew head-on into the mountain side, near Mammoth Lakes, California Most of the plane a small two seat Bellanca was destroyed upon impact. The main portion of the wreckage was found around 9,700 up the side of a 10,000 foot plus peak. The crash was a nonsurvivable.

The Transportation Safety Board will use a team to recover the wreckage as an aid to try to determine the reason for the crash. The investigation could take several weeks or maybe even months.

I will be following the investigation as it progresses and will be very interested in the final report.
